A worldwide drugstore chain faced over $200 million in HIPAA exposure due to a critical pharmacist application that was locked to Windows XP with no vendor upgrade path. With XP end-of-life creating an immediate compliance crisis across thousands of pharmacy locations, we innovated a solution using VMware ThinApp to package and redevelop the application for the Windows 7 platform. This eliminated the HIPAA exposure entirely and kept pharmacies operational nationwide. Over a six-year period across multiple enterprise engagements, we executed over 7,000 server and desktop migrations using VMware Converter, Platespin, Vizoncore, and custom tooling. When factoring in the full scope of process migrations — moving users, profiles, applications, and workflows from legacy environments to greenfield platforms — the total exceeded 15,000 to 20,000 individual migrations.
